Collins Cover Announcement 

SLEIGH 1680's

This unusual COLLINS cover will make a nice addition to your collection. The cachet is done entirely by hand with no printing process used at all. The warm picture shows a wind-swept sky in blues and golds. The white snow is highlighted with lavendar and blue. Set against a mountain back-drop is a country farm setting with brightly colored buildings. In the foreground is a "one horse open sleigh" heading for the cluster of buildings. All lettering is by hand. This cover is done in a "folksy" artistic style and is a nice contrast to the usual, more formal COLLINS cachets. A change of pace.

It is a dual FDC with the bright orange embossed 5.2 non-profit and a strip of three red 1880's sleigh 5.2 non-profit stamps all tied with a single First Day of Issue cancel. The colors of the stamps were instrumental in choosing the color scheme for the painting of the cachet. Item #E601 - $5.25
