Lot 15  J1801 — Flag Over Mt. Rushmore (3-29-91)

This is one of the more interesting Collins First Day Covers. The hand-painted cachet is an excellent rendition of the huge stone presidential carvings in South Dakota. Shown with outstanding detail are George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Teddy Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln. The inspiring scene is surrounded by a blue border around the edge of the entire envelope. The envelope is hand painted in watercolors and certainly is a fine work of philatelic art. The Mount Rushmore/American Flag stamp has the bullseye day of issue postmark from Mount Rushmore.
