Over the past quarter century, Chris Calle has designed more than 30 stamps for the U.S. Postal Service, and hundreds more for stamp-issuing entities as diverse and far-flung as Sweden, the Marshall Islands, and the United Nations. 

Spring 2024 Mail Sale Commentary 

Lot 13 Y1901 — Eagle and Shield (PNC) — 12-13-91

Painted in colorful but tastefully subdued tones, this hand painted cachet projects a historic and patriotic perspective. A bald eagle perches on a red, white, and blue shield. Talons of one foot grip the arrows of war while the opposite ones grasp an olive branch of peace. A strip of three stamps adds a dash of color with the center stamp having a plate number. Patriotic and very nice sums it up.
