Collins Cover Announcementg

1996 Christmas

"Waiting for Santa"

The "entire" COLLINS individually hand-painted cachet on this cover is one that will tug at your heart. The stockings have been hung on the mantle with care and await their bounty of trinkets and goodies. A plate of cookies, an apple, and a glass of milk have been placed on the table as a snack for the eagerly anticipated bearded visitor. Bed time is near but the long and exciting day has proven too much for sister as she dozes under the Christmas tree. No doubt, visions of sugar plums dance in her head. Cuddled close by is the family dog sporting a red bow and content with the warm companionship of the happy children. Brother takes a last look up the chimney in hopes of catching a glimpse of a descending Santa.

The block of four stamps, showing Christmas family scenes, has the "First Day of Issue" slogan cancel from North Pole, Alaska., With the multi-colored block of stamps and the beautiful watercolors from the cachet, this is a very vivid and attractive seasonal cover.

Now it is off to bed to dream of rooftop sleighbells and to await the magic of Christmas morn.  Item #T2601.  $12.75

Lot 25 T2601 — Christmas — Waiting for Santa (10-8-96)

This one surprised me by selling out so quickly. It's a very appealing Christmas cover with the block of four 1996 Christmas stamps. In a scene that plays out generation after generation across the country, a brother and sister wait with the family dog for the arrival of Santa Claus — a hand painted cachet that will tug at your heart with the magic of Christmas. A Christmas cachet that captures the moment. A live potted long-needle pine tree is tastefully decorated. Stockings are hung with care to the wooden mantle below a display of poinsettias. Note the detailed brick backing in the fireplace and the white birch logs that wait for another night to burn. Sister drifts into dreamland while brother stays on alert. Cookies await the hard-working guest with an apple for a lucky reindeer. If your collection doesn't have it, now's the time.
