Yellow Rose

Collins Cover Announcement

YELLOW ROSE

The influence of Spanish and Mexican culture has helped shape our Southwest from Southern California where this stamp was issued to Texas which I've made the subject of my handpainted cachet. One of my favorite traditional songs is "The Yellow Rose of Texas" and thus I could not resist using this for my cachet theme.

Oh the Yellow Rose of Texas

That I am goin' to see,

No one else could miss her

Not half as much as me.

You can talk about your Clementine

And sing of Rosalie,

But the Yellow Rose of Texas

Is the Only Gal for me.

My setting is a small adobe village and it provides the backdrop for the pretty senorita. Dark flowing hair. A cascading ribbon descending from a golden bloom. A wistful look in the eyes and an ever so faint smile on the lips conveys someone lost in pleasant thoughts. An intriguing cover and eye-catching cachet for your COLLINS collection.

She cried so when I left her,

It nigh to broke my heart.

And if I ever find her,

We never more will part.

The Yellow Rose of Texas. Item #V2601. $11.75.

Lot 13 V2601 — Yellow Rose— 10-24-96

The influence of Spanish and Mexican culture has helped shape our Southwest from southern California where this stamp was issued to Texas which I made the subject of my cachet. It's an exceptionally attractive cover and is hand painted in tones of yellows, tans, rust, and sage green.

One of my favorite traditional songs is The Yellow Rose of Texas and, thus, I could not resist using this for my cachet theme. The setting is a small adobe village, and it provides the backdrop for the pretty senorita. It's an intriguing and eye-catching cachet celebrating the Yellow Rose, and this is the first time it has been offered in one of my mail sales.
