Scenic American Landscapes

Nine-Mile Prairie, Nebraska

Collins Cover Announcement

NINE MILE PRAIRIE - 70c

The hand painted cachet for this new stamp shows a chief of the Santee Sioux. This tribe made its home on the Nebraska Prairie, which is the subject of this new issue. The Nine-Mile Prairie is located near Lincoln, Nebraska, and it is one of the largest unplowed, virgin tallgrass areas of the Great Plains left in the state. The realistic watercolors used in this Sioux village scene bring the cachet to life. The rising sun in the East, and the glorious dawn sky of a new day. The unique teepees with their drawings by tribal artists. The majestic feathered war-bonnet of the Santee chief.

This is a very pleasing First Day Cover of the Nebraska Prairie and the Native Americans of the Great Plains. Item #A3401 - $12.75.
