Collins Cover Announcement

Art of Disney

Alice in Wonderland

I'm pleased to announce the-first cover in this-year's four stamp tribute to "The Art of Disney." My hand painted cachet captures the beginning of Alice's adventures as she travels to Wonderland. The tale of Alice was originally written by Lewis Carroll, and it all began as she was enjoying a modest picnic in a meadow. When a White Rabbit scurried by mumbling, "I'm late, I'm late for a very important date, " she followed him into a hollow tree. Alice then tumbled down a rabbit hole where she saw a tiny door. The White Rabbit, who was obsessed with time, went through the door that Alice could not fit through. Nearby on a table sat a bottle with a sign that said "Drink me." She did and, as a result, she began to shrink until she could go through the tiny door. She quickly followed the White Rabbit and found herself in Wonderland where marvelous adventures awaited her.

The watercolors on this cachet and those that will follow in upcoming weeks bring the Art of Disney to life. It's a certainty that these First Day Covers will become sought-after collectibles in the years ahead, so don't miss out. I'm pleased to start the 2005 set of four with Alice in Wonderland — Collins #V3902 —$13.25.
