The lynx is a medium-sized cat with very large furry paws and long black tufts extending from each ear. In this hand painted cachet, the beautiful animal is seen resting in a northern forest. Its range includes Alaska and Canada as well as the top of the lower 48 from Maine and New England, across Michigan, Wisconsin, and Montana, to the northwest region of Idaho, Washington, and Oregon. This magnificent cat is also found in the Wyoming and Colorado Rockies. The First Day postmark ties both the Christmas religious and a snowflake stamp to the envelope. This Winter Wildlife cachet series, exclusive to Collins, has been very popular with collectors since I started it in 1988.
