Sally Ride

First American Woman in Space

Cover Announcement

Sally Kristen Ride was born in Los Angeles on May 26, 1951. She earned her B.S., Master's, and PhD degrees from Stanford University. Dr. Ride joined NASA in 1978 and became the first American woman in space in 1983. To this day she remains the youngest American astronaut to have traveled in space, having done so at age 32.

My individually hand painted cachet depicts the Space Shuttle Challenger on which Dr. Ride made two flights. Set against the blackness of space. It is a very dynamic and eye-catching cachet. The large, new stamp features a portrait of Sally and is tied to the envelope with a first day of issue bullseye postmark.

This American hero was an engineer, physicist, and astronaut. Dr. Sally Ride is now ready. Collins #U5701 at $15.00.
