Cover Announcement

This individually hand painted Collins cachet features three of the game's all-time greats.

Most baseball historians consider Honus Wagner as the best shortstop ever. He had 3,430 hits, a lifetime batting average of .329, and 722 stolen bases. He was one of the Baseball Hall of Fame's first five players inducted.

This durable right-handed pitcher has a career that spanded 22 seasons. His 511 wins are the most in Major League history and 94 more than Walter Johnson who is second on the list. He still holds the records for Most Innings Pitched, Most Games Started, and Most Completed Games. After his death at age 88 in 1955. the Cy Young Award was created to honor each season's best pitcher.

Detroit Tiger outfielder Ty Cobb received 222 out of a possible 226 votes (98.2%) to be chosen as one of the first five players to enter the Baseball Hall of Fame. Nicknamed "The Georgia Peach" he compiled the best career all-time batting average - an amazing .367 which remains intact to the present day. In his 22 year career he had 4,191 hits, 1,938 runs batted in, and 892 stolen bases.

Also shown on the First Day Cover are a bat, a ball, and a pair of spikes. Fittingly, the spikes are shown under Cobb who, almost a century later, still holds the record for stealing home 54 times. My America's Pastime Cover honoring three of baseball's legends is now ready. Collins #L5501 at $15.00.
