To invoke a little nostalgia, I decided to take my handpainted cachet back to an accounting office in the early 1900's. The period desks are very interesting with their multitude of small drawers, nooks and crannies. Also interesting are the dress and hair styles of the accountants and secretary. Little dashes of nostalgia are added in terms of a primitive typewriter, a wicker waste basket and an early desk lamp. This "entire" cachet really captures my intent for this CPA stamp, and I think it will be "best of issue" of all cachets produced by various makers.
I wanted a really fine unofficial (real) First Day cancel to top off the great cachet.. .And I found it! Accountants are concerned with debits and credits, assets and liabilities, deposits and withdrawals. All successful businesses must turn a profit and deposit those monies, and that is where the cancel is -- Deposit, New York. After picking up the stamps in New York City, it was on to the upstate village of Deposit via a beautiful ride through the Catskill Mountains. Super quality cancel on the nicely designed stamp showing ledger paper and a pen nib. (I'll never forget Mrs. Duffy in eighth grade and her total commitment to the straight pen and ink for penmanship -- talk about by-gone days.)
In summary, this is an excellent addition to your collection. An old-fashioned accounting office )-hat "brings to life" the nice, but somber, stamp. A great related unofficial First Day cancel and one of excellent quality. Be sure to "deposit" this asset in your collection. Item #Y1201 $7.50
