DUKE ELLINGTON

One of America's premier pianists and musicians, Duke Ellington was a master of the keyboard. The hand-painted cachet shows him performing together with a back-up trio of sax, clarinet and trumpet. The colors used are light pinks, blues and white with sharp contrasts of blue and cranberry. A contemporary cachet that tries to capture the essence of the man and his music.

The stamp was obtained in New York City, affixed to the cover and taken to Ellington, Connecticut for a superb unofficial First Day Cancel. The magenta cancel and the colors of the stamp blend nicely with the cachet. Another FDC that I am proud to offer. Item #E1101 - $7.50
