My thanks and a tip of the hat to Alaskan collector Nicki Nielsen for suggesting this wonderful unofficial First Day cancel that "makes" this COLLINS. After obtaining the stamps in Anchorage, it was about a 3-1/2 hour drive to the small, remote, one-person post office of Trapper Creek. Seriously, in a state of comparatively few towns, can you possibly think of a better related First Day cancel than Trapper Creek?

I am so pleased to be able to include it in my offerings (COLLINS is the only one to obtain it) to you and, again, my heart-felt thanks to Nicki for letting me know that such a place existed. The fine quality cancel with killer bars ties a pair to the cover.

The hand-painted cachet shows a seven dog team hauling a sled over the Alqskan snowfields. Behind the driver, an evergreen forest blankets the snowcovered hills and, beyond, higher mountains reach for the blue sky.

You can bet that very few unofficial (real) cancels exist for this Alaskan cover and that Trapper Creek will be judged by collectors to top the list. Item #M1101 - $7.50
