Helene Madison

This is the second of the COLLINS Famous Olympian set to be offered, joining Eddie Eagan.

In 1932 Helene Madison held all 16 women's world free-style swimming records. She also held the amazing number of 56 United States records. In the Los Angeles Olympics of that year she easily won the Gold Medals in the three events in which she was entered - 100 meter free-style, 400 meter free-style, and 400 meter free-style relay. Helene was a true champion in the sport of swimming.

The hand-painted cachet is done in the circle format with Olympic torches. The view is unusual. It's as though you were on the bottom of the pool looking up as Helene swims past above you.

The unofficial slogan cancel is the same one that appears on the Eagan cover.
