INTERNATIONAL PEACE GARDEN

This issue honors the friendship between two nations - Canada and the U.S. The official city is Dunseith, N.D. near the Peace Garden, and a single stamp is hand canceled "First Day of Issue". For my unofficial cancel I chose Rugby, N.D. which is the geographical center of North America. This is very appropriate since both Canada and the United States have linkage to this issue. The cachet, printed in black, red and blue shows the Peace Garden monument flanked by the flags of both nations. The hand painting is very colorful and along with the bright colors of the stamps makes for an eye-pleasing FDC. Item No. P501 - $5.50
