Collins Cover Announcement

MIGRATORY BIRD - (1932 "DUCK")

This year I'll be doing my second "Duck" cover with the first being last year's ruddy duck which promptly sold out in very short order. Once again the COLLINS FDC for this issue will have a large, bold hand painted cachet with a large and bold type-style to match.

The cachet design shows a pair of canvasbacks - drake and hen - in flight over quiet water and marshland reeds. Wildlife topics are always very popular, and I think that this watercolored design will achieve increasing recognition and value as time passes. I also believe that, like last year, this annual COLLINS Duck cover will be an almost instant sell out. In addition to the 1982 "Duck" stamp, each cover will be franked with the mallard and Canada goose CAPEX stamps thus meeting postal requirements. The covers will be canceled on First Day of Issue, July 1, in Washington, D.C.

Due to the high cost of the Duck stamps ($7.50 each), as I did last year, I must request 1/2 payment in advance for each cover you desire. Then, when ready, which I hope will be around August first, I will invoice for balance due. If you want to pay in full, I will ship as soon as painting is completed. To help me with my bookkeeping, please do not send any other money (regular orders, Bird and Flower payment, etc.) with this order form. PLEASE CONFINE YOUR CHECK OR MONEY ORDER TO PAYMENT FOR DUCK COVERS ONLY. Also, since First Day is approaching, please submit order as soon as possible.

If past performance is any indication, this cover will be an excellent potential investment as well as a beautiful collectible. The cover combines a large, time-consuming hand painted cachet with wonderful detail, the 1982 "Duck" stamp (always a beauty) and the very attractive CAPEX wildlife stamps (mallard and Canada goose)-, large bullseye hand cancel on First Day; and a continuation of the bold, distinctive style that was used on last year's "Duck" cover. If at all possible, add this one to your collection - as they say, I'd "bet the ranch" that you'll never regret it. As with all 7fly covers, I will buy back at any time for full purchase price. Item #Q501 - Price $20.

Spring 2019 Mail Sale Commentary

Lot 8 Q501 — 1982 Canvasback Duck Migratory Bird First Day Cover. The 2" Collins "Duck."

This is a classic Collins first day cover. My first "duck" was in 1981. The hand painted cachet shows three canvasback ducks taking off from a quiet lake. The new duck stamp has a large bullseye first day postmark from Washington, DC. To meet the postage requirement, I used one mallard and one Canada goose stamp from the CAPEX issue. It's a beauty and the second Collins "duck."
