DR. RALPH BUNCHE

Ralph Johnson Bunche was one of the world's leading scholars in the field of race relations and was very involved in establishing the United Nations. Dr. Bunche gained the respect and praise of countries and individuals from around the world. Lucy Johnson, his Grandmother, raised Ralph after his parents died, and she influenced his life greatly. She urged Ralph to complete his education and encouraged him to accept a scholarship to the University of California. He described her as "the strongest woman I ever knew". In recognition of the direction she gave Ralph's life, I chose Johnson City, N.Y. as the unofficial cancel.
