Collins Cover Announcement
13G OLYMPICS
This block of four Olympic issue came out in South Bend, Indiana. With this Indiana location, an unofficial site came immediately to mind in neighboring Illinois. A COLLINS collector lives in this town and therefore I've had it in the back of my mind, hoping to work it on to one of my covers. What could be more perfect for a related unofficial cancel than Olympia Fields? A pair has the official "First Day of Issue" hand cancel from South Bend and another pair has the Olympia Fields hand cancel. It is a very nice cancel With killer bars. The four sports are boxing, discus, archery and women's high jump.
On the A702 set of four, each cover has four of the 13G stamps that pertain to the sport shown in the hand-painted cachet. For the A701 cover, all four different stamns are used with a pair having the South Bend cancel and the opposite pair having the Olympia Fields cancel. These five covers with their five distinctive cachets and the duo cancels, are a very fine Olympic set. I expect a sell-out on these as well as the San Antonio set so do secure them now if you want them in your collection. Item #A701 - $5.75 Item #A702 ● Price (4 FDCs) $23.00. These are five different cachets.

Lot 7 A701 to A705 — 13-cent Summer Olympics (set of frve) — 7-28-83
This set of five wonderful first day covers started with a block of four stamps issued in South Bend, Indiana. I had the covers officially canceled there and then went to Illinois where a terrific, large Olympia Fields unofficial cancel was placed on each cover.
The four sports are boxing, discus, high jump, and archery. On the A702 to A705 covers, each one has four of the 13-cent stamps that pertain to the sport shown in the hand-painted cachet. For the A701 cover, all four varied stamps are used on a different close-up boxing cachet with a pair having the South Bend cancel and the opposite pair having the Olympia Fields cancel. The five covers all have distinctive but related colors, and the stars are the colors of the Olympic stars.
These five covers with their colorful and distinctive cachets and the duo cancels, are a very fine Olympic set.
