FAMOUS INVENTORS

This is one of my personal favorite covers from this group. It is a very sharp looking cover and the color coordination between star= and cachet is absolutely perfect. The cancels also contribute much to this cover's appeal.

For the hand-painted cachet I chose Philo T. Farnsworth -- the Father of Television. He is shown along with components of his invention. As mentioned above the colors match perfectly those of the stamns. I am anxious for you to see this FDC.

Not to be overshadowed by the terrific color coordination are the cancels. A pair (Farnsworth and Nikola Tesla - Induction Motor) are canceled First Day of Issue at Washington, D.C. The opposite pair (Edwin Armstrong - Frequency Modulation "and Charles Steinmetz - Electrical Theories) are unofficially canceled at the National Museum of American History - Smithsonian Station. This is a beautiful pictorial cancel and I think very appropriate for these men and their inventions that are now forever etched in the history of our country. Indeed a most interesting collectible.
