1983 CHRISTMAS - SANTA

This is undoubtedly the finest Christmas First Day cover yet produced by COLLINS. It is an "entire" cachet -- that is where it covers the comnlete envelope -- and it is a dandy. Shown is Santa in his sleigh soaring through the December skies with his complete team of eight reindeer. The sleigh is to the lower left and the reindeer extend across the center and to the upper right corner. Make no mistake -- this is a dynamite Christmas cachet and will become a classic.

A single stamp in the upper left corner has a bullseye cancel from official city of Santa Claus, Indiana. A second stamp in lower right corner has unofficial First Day cancel from Bethlehem, Indiana. As an added touch, around each stamp is a hand-painted "holly border" which must also be considered as part of the cachet. The price, slightly higher than usual, reflects the considerable painting time.

Christmas covers are very collectible and individuals will always be seeking them for their specialized collections. I suggest that you purchase at least one of each K701 and L701 at this time.
