PHYSICAL FITNESS

The cachet design for this handpainted FDC features a racquetball player -- done in an unusual and very effective style using about 25% of the body in shadow. The action pose is further highlighted against a very colorful and bright background. It's a little different and I think it really captures the physical fitness theme.

For my unofficial I chose the Texas namesake of Pasadena, Calif. where each year the granddaddy of the college football bowl games is played -- the Rose Bowl. Also, this year the Army/Navy game was played for the first time ever on the West Coast in Pasadena. Football -- youth, high school, college and professional -- is certainly a popular spectator sport whose team participants must be at the peak of physical fitness.

This duo FDC with two Texas cancels has hand "First Day of Issue" from official city Houston, hand unofficial from Pasadena (symbolic of team fitness), and colorful cachet featuring racquetball player (symbolic of individual fitness). A nice looking cover. Item #N601. Price $5.50
