Canada Geese by Robert Sopchick
Fred's Anecdotal Note
1992 PENNSYLVANIA
An early freeze and snowfall has tr:ansformed the autumn coutryside into a winter wonderland. Two Canada geese interrupt their migration south to rest and forage for food. They walk on the frozen surface of a brook while only inches away beneath the layer of ice two beautifrrl rainbow trout swim in the frigid water. The hand-painted cachet complements the scene in the stamp which shows a pair of geese at a winter beaver pond.
A wonderful, related postmark was obtained at Trout Run, Pennsylvania. I used this post office last year for my "Fishing Fly" set and was so pleased that I planned this year's Pennsylvania Duck cover around it. 297 covers were produced.
