A green-winged teal family enjoys a sunny morning along the banks of the mighty Mississippi River. The brightly plumed drake stands alert to any potential danger while the hen oversees her two downy ducklings. In the distance, a twin-stacked sternwheeled river boat steams by on her voyage down rjver.
Serial numbers used were 9231 to 9440. A Jackson, Mississippi postmark ties the stamps to the cover.
