Goldeneyes & Lighthouse by Wilhelm Goebel

Fred's Anecdotal Note

A white-tail deer fawn bounds over a piece of driftwood near a bay at the Jersey shore. Nearby a pair of common goldeneye ducks join Bambi in this hand-painted cachet as they swim in the tidal basin. Deer have adapted to the seacoast habitat and smalI populations of them actually inhabit islands in the New Jersey/Delaware area.

The new $5.00 stamp has a nice Day of Issue postmark from Mountain Lakes, New Jersey. Serial numbers used were

11191 to 11340.
