Hooded Mergansers by Harold Roe

Fred's Anecdotal Note

1996 OHIO

With a face value of eleven dollars, the Ohio is one of the most expensive of all State Duck stamps. This adds to the collector appeal as "high value" items always seem to be in demand. The quality of the new stamp is also excellent as it shows a pair of swimming hooded mergansers. My covers are individually numbered with only 150 produced.

The hand-painted cachet is done in earth-tone watercolors.

A male hooded merganser stands quietly on a ledge

outcropping and watches a curious porcupine forage for

food under the bark of a toppled tree. The postmark on this superb Duck Cover is from Columbus, Ohio.
