1997 Florida


Florida has the only viable population of mountain lions east of the Mississippi River with up to seventy-five individuals. In this hand-painted Mlford cachet, one of big cats also known as a Florida panther sits amid subtropical plants in the Everglades and watches a nearby duck. The female Merganser senses danger and is very wary and alert.


The stamp is postmarked on its Day of Issue at Tallahassee. Serial numbers are dgslgnlted in groups of ten from 4302-01 to 4317-10. A total of 160 were produced for this limited-edition hand-painted Milford.
