1997 Michigan

A potentially explosive encounter takes place on Michigan's Upper Peninsula. A family of Canvasbacks is being salked by a cunning lynx. Instead of approaching from land where threats are expected, the sleek cat has made his way closer to his prey by using off-shore stones as a pathway. A watery escape still is possible for all of the ducks if they spot the predator in time. The subtle watercolors used in this hand-painted Milford make it one of my personal fayorites in the Wildlife Series.

The postmark is from Lansing and only 150 covers were made for this issue.
