Oklahoma 1997

Goldeneyes by M. Anderson

Fred's Anecdotal Note

1997 Oklahoma

A pair of Common Golden-Eye Ducks grace both the new stamp and my handpainted cachet. In this Milford scene, the birds fly past a mother buffalo and her young calf. Numerous bison once roamed the Oklahoma grasslands, and that state has established a wild herd on a large expanse of territory consistent with past habitat. It seemed like the perfect species to feature on this "Wildlife Series" Milfoid.

The large, bold stamp is postmarked at Oklahoma City. Serial numbers used were 275l to 2890 for a limited edition of only 140 covers produced.
