After servicing at Gunston Hall, the covers were taken south past Richmond to Historic Williamsburg. There they received the unofficial First Day cancel in the appropriate Colonial Format. George Mason visited Williamsburç several times on political business, and this makes it a fine related unofficial in both terms of time period and the man being honored on the stamp.
