SAVINGS & LOAN

Shown on the cachet is the first home on which was granted a mortgage, and it is realistically done in watercolors. The "First Day of Issue" is a hand cancel from Chicago. In my quest for an appropriate unofficial, I found "the" thing that is both saved and loaned - money. The cancel, in beautiful magenta, is from Monee, Ill., and I think that it will come to be recognized as one of the great unofficials for this issue. Item #U301 - $5.50
