This nature theme FDC is a beauty. The larger sized colorful stamps along with the hand-painted cachet make this entire cover come alive with desert hues - flowering blossoms, hardy cacti, barren sands and blue skies. The cachet depicts a desert view and compliments the stamps very well - I think you will enjoy adding it to your collection. The two vertical stamps have official "First Day of Issue" hand cancel, and the two horizontal stamps have an unofficial hand cancel from Green Valley, Arizona. Item #T401 - $6.00

Winter 2024 Mail Sale Commentary 

Lot 15 T401 — Desert Plants — 12/11/81

A trip to First Day city Tucson resulted in a postmark there on two of the stamps. Then it was off to Green Valley, Arizona where the other two stamps received a nice quality magenta first day cancel.

Importantly, the Green Valley cancel ties both pairs to the envelope. This is a great opportunity to get this very attractive cover. I don't believe it has been offered since it appeared in a Spring 2000 mail sale. This is a perfect time to add a really nice Collins first day cover.
