Golden Trout Cachet

This offering completes my six-cover Fishing Fly set. The five individual fly FDCs were offered earlier and now it is time for the final item. All five stamps are on this cover, and they have the official "First Day of Issue" postmark from Cuddebackville, New York. The trout species I chose for this cachet was the vivid golden trout. The fish is swimming in a stream and two-thirds of its body is submerged, and the upper third is above the water. I chose a mottled green for the stream in an effort to achieve a bold look. Sunlight penetrates the water revealing tannish rocks that coordinate with the brown background of the stamps. The composition is different than the other cachets in this set. At first I didn't care for it, but now it continues to grow on me, and I think it captures the spirit of the wild trout. Item #Y1801. $10.00
