LIBERTY TORCH

Lady Liberty stands tall in this hand-painted cachet. I think the unique feature of this marvelous First Day Cover is how it will appear a little different to you each time you look at it. The composition of the waterpaints and the method in which they were applied give this COLLINS a flair that no other FDC for this issue will offer.

The Statue itself is in the foreground -- very bold and forceful in the familiar metallic green. Her arm is extended to the heavens, and in her hand is grasped the torch of freedom. The flame of liberty is painted a golden amber and casts a welcome glow to all. Behind the monument, the cloud-filled sky makes this cover a thing of beauty. Orange and yellow. Blue and lavendar. Pink and rose. All combined to present the perfect backdrop for the Statue itself.

The liberty torch stamp has the New York, New York bullseye First Day cancel. This FDC has that special blend of subject, color, and composition to make it something special. Don't miss it. Item #F1901. $9.75.
