Fishing Flies
Lefty’s Deceiver Fly
Collins Cover Announcement
FISHING FLIES
"Lefty's Deceiver"
A rainbow trout leaps completely out of a wide river, and the sight of this colorful beauty must excite the angler at the other end of the line. The fisherman, who has been wading the rippling waters and casting patiently, has now been rewarded with a sportsman's delight -- a fighting rainbow. If one looks closely at this hand-painted cachet, it is evident that the fish has only been lightly hooked in the lip. It's a good bet that the fish will dislodge the fly long before it is close enough to be netted and that the sportsman will be left with a wonderful memory and his tale about "the one that got away". I would be remiss if I didn't add a word about the setting in which the tussle between fish and man is taking place. A tree-line of multi-colored foliage is doubled in size as the vivid hues are reflected in the water. In front of this blaze of color, the rainbow leaps for freedom, and behind the autumn trees a mountain range dominates the horizon. Quite a cachet.
The stamp is canceled with a Cuddebackville, New York First Day bullseye. This is the third cover to be offered in the COLLINS "Fishing Fly" series and one you will not want to miss netting for your collection. Item #Y1805. $9.50.
