Almost every team has a squad of cheerleaders, and in this Famous Comedian cachet a group of young college coeds practice their routines. It is also the day when new girls will be trying out,and who do you think is the first to show up? Right. It's Fanny.

Getting a jump on the competition, she's already outfitted herself in a cheering uniform. Sort of. To go with her sweater and skirt, Fanny has chosen an extra large polka-dot hair ribbon, two large pom-poms, and a pair of striped socks. She's ready to go and wants to know "Where do I try out?"

This hand-painted FDC fits in with the football/Rosebowl theme that I chose to present my Famous Comedians covers. Those already offered include: (N1901-Laurel & Hardy); (N1903-Jack Benny); and, (N1905-Abbott & Costello). They are still available at $9.75 each, but my stock is shrinking fast. If you don't have them yet, now is the time. Done in a cartoonish style, these covers in the years ahead will be ones that future collectors will be searching out. They are different, custom, and unique because of their designs and postmark.

And what a postmark it is! I discovered that a terrific

"Mickey Mouse - Disneyland" pictorial cancel was going to be in use in Anaheim on the issue date. So, in the Fred Collins tradition, I obtained the stamps in the official city and then took my covers to Anaheim for this super postmark, and I still believe I was the one and only cachetmaker to obtain it. "Mickey" has brought laughter to millions, so what cancel could possibly be better for a set of Famous Comedian stamps? And, since Mickey is suited up for the big game and kicking a football, I decided to custom design my cachets for a day at the Rosebowl.

So much for the background. These covers are just another example of how I try to produce exciting and different items for your collection. A few steps beyond anything else available.
