Tropical Beach

A tropical beach in the Islands is the setting for this hand-painted cachet. Hand in hand, a couple runs splashing through the gentle surf. The brilliant blues of sea and heaven are separated at the horizon by a band of romantic rose-colored sky. A few palm canopies offer relief from the Hawaiian sun and multi-colored orchids lend their tropical blooms to the happy scene.

In order to give COLLINS collectors something special, the new stamp has an actual First Day postmark from the Hawaiian Village Station in Honolulu. The only way to obtain this cancel was to be there on the issue date. No other cachetmaker traveled from the continental U.S. to Hawaii for the First Day of Issue. The stamp shows a globe in the shape of a heart and is quite nice.

Finally, the word "LOVE" appears at the bottom of the cover and each letter is hand-painted a different, vivid color.
