Track and Field - Sprint

This is the fifth and final cover in the very colorful Track and Field Olympic issue. Inspired by the bright colors of the stamps themselves, I decided early on that my cachets would follow through with an equally vivid presentation. The technique I chose was to do the athletes in normal tones but to provide a background splash of color that would make this set a real eye-catcher. A lavender and purple explosion is the dominant feature of this hand-painted cachet as an Olympic sprinter strains to reach the finish line tape. The stamp has the Los Angeles First Day postmark.
