At this year's AFDCS Convention my "Horse" set has been entered into the cachetmaker competition. For those of you who have obtained my previously offered Steeplechase (jumper) and Harness Horse (trotter) covers, I don't have to extoll the virtues of this set. And now it is time for the third cover with only the Polo Pony to go which will be offered soon.

In this hand-painted cachet, two thoroughbred race horses strain for the finish line nose to nose. The vibrant colors of the opposing jockeys bring the cover to life as the galloping horses streak along the rail with their riders urging them on. The infield is a blur as the action speeds by and dust rises from the track beneath the thundering hooves.

The stamp has a First Day of Issue from the Kentucky Blue Grass city of Louisville. It certainly is fitting that this cover gets its First Day status from the state of Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Derby.
