Collins Cover Announcement

THE TWO-DOLLAR JAMES MADISON HIGH-VALUE ISSUE

Centennial of United States Stamp Production

By the Bureau of Engraving and Printing

A magnificent hand-painted COLLINS cachet spans the entire envelope on this stunning high-value First Day Cover. A grand ball finds the First Couple sharing a private moment. The vivacious Dolley Madison in a lovely formal gown holds her husband's hand while the President fondly looks at his beautiful wife. In the background, guests dance beneath a crystal chandelier. This cachet will become recognized in the hobby as "one to own" and I honestly believe that it will be judged to be "The Best of Issue".

The attractive two dollar blue James Madison stamp has the First Day postmark from New York City. The artwork used on the stamp first appeared on stamps issued in 1894 which was when the Bureau of Engraving and Printing first assumed responsibility for printing U.S. postage stamps. My cachet, in script text, nicely documents the Centennial aspect of this $2.00 issue.

As with the high value issues that I have offered in the past, I definitely expect this offering to sell out quickly. In addition to an acquisition for your collection, you might want to consider an extra to put away. It would be a very wise purchase.

This is a cover that I'm very proud to offer. A single, two dollar James Madison stamp with the fine workmanship from 1894 Bureau of Engraving and Printing craftsmen. An eye-catching and extremely well done hand-painted cachet featuring the lovely Dolley and handsome and presidential James. I offer for your collection the two dollar Madison. Item #T2301. $19.25.
