Silent Screen Stars
Buster Keaton
Collins Cover Announcement
STARS OF THE SILENT SCREEN
BUSTER KEATON
This is the second in this series joining the Charlie Chaplin offered earlier. Buster Keaton is known for his slapstick comedy and a deadpan stare. He personally directed many of his best features which included "Sherlock Jr." "Our Hospitality" and "The General".
In this hand-painted cachet, Buster is working as a "railroad gang of one" putting down railroad ties ahead of an advancing locomotive. With a large wooden tie in his grasp, he desperately runs just in front of the looming engine. Trains were used extensively in early films and figured prominently in comedies and dramatic movies.
This hand-painted cover features the special border that will bind all my "Silent Screen Star" Covers together as a set. The special border features an early movie camera, director's megaphone, player piano, and a reel of film. I am very pleased at the way this set is coming out.
Buster grew up as part of the "Thre Keatons" variety act. From vaudeville he moved into motion pictures. His name and reputation will live forever from his exploits on the silent screen. Buster Keaton. Item #U2210. $10.75.
