Limited Edition - Subscriber Only - First Day Cover

This COLLINS Cover is one that will have a special place in your collection because it is the first of my two "subscriber only" issues produced only for my subscription collectors. None are available for non-subscribers and no extras are available for subscribers. As such, this cover will be very rare on the open market and you can expect its value to reflect this scarcity. The two "subscriber only" covers each year are my way of expressing appreciation to my regular collectors.

This is a most unusual COLLINS because almost never do I choose to use an intact and full sheet. Rather, I use the individual stamps from the sheet. The reason for this is quite simple. If I use the full sheet it leaves very little room for my cachet.

Knowing that the popularity of "sports" in stamp collecting is high, this time I decided that I would create a "triple" for you in terms of desirability and collectibility impact. First, I would use the entire sheet which many collectors look for. Second, by leaving the three stamps intact within the sheet it becomes a $1.19 "high-value item". Third, with no extas available to collectors, this COLLINS FDC will always be sought within the hobby intensely because rarely will they be forthcoming on the open market.

The sheet is attractive. In addition to the 29-cent, 40-cent and 50-cent stamps it depicts the names of all twenty-four nations with teams in the competition. It also pictures a prominent map of the United States with game site locations. The main color design is red, white and blue and it is very eye-catching.

Due to the souvenir sheet's large size, very little room is left for my cachet but even here this piece becomes historic because I think this is my smallest cachet to date. I used this space to the ultimate and eighteen different colors of paint combine to show a player controlling the ball as spectators in a packed stadium look on. It complements the souvenir sheet just right. Again, this is an item just for you with no extras available for sale. Non-subscribers cannot order one. This is the subscriber-only limited-edition cover with the large souvenir sheet from May of 1994 that has all three different stamps and takes up most of the envelope. It is tied to the envelope with the first day of issue slogan cancel. It also has a hand painted cachet that completes the "entire" format for this unusually nice sports first day cover.

The sheet containing three new soccer stamps is very colorful and takes up 80% of the cover. With careful planning and precision, the remaining space was used for a hand painted cachet and the bullseye portion of the "First Day of Issue" postmark. Considering the uniqueness of this soccer souvenir sheet Collins, this is a seldom seen opportunity to obtain it.
