Lot 19 A2401 — Auto Tail Fin — 1959 Cadillac Fleetwood — 3-17-95

This automobile stamp marked the beginning of a postal series entitled "American Culture." The handpainted cachet features the classic 1959 Fleetwood convertible. It spans the entire envelope from the lower left to the upper right. It is painted fire-engine red and is from the era of high rocket-like fins and lots of chrome trim. In the background of this cover is a rendition of the social gathering place of the Fifties — the diner. This cover is making its first appearance in one of my mail sales.
