JAZZ MUSICIANS

CHARLIE PARKER AND EUBIE BLAKE

Charles Parker, Jr. was an undisputed musical genius on the saxophone who, along with colleagues Dizzy Gillespie (trumpet); Thelonious Monk (piano); and Kenny Clarke (drums), led jazz in a new direction called bebop. He also played with Earl Hines in the 1940's and with a young Julliard School of Music student named Miles Davis.

James Hubert Blake was a pianist and composer who was born in 1883 and passed away one hundred years later in 1983. "Eubie" became a very successful and famous songwriter with his partner Noble Sissle. With Blake composing the music and Sissle writing the lyrics, they were responsible for many hits including "I'm Just Wild About Harry". Eubie Blake made his last professional appearance at age 99.

My hand-painted cachet is very colorful and features Parker on the alto sax and Blake at the keyboard. Two very popular and talented jazz musicians. Item #D2503. $11.25.
