The ball has completed its swift journey down the alley. It has made the inevitable hard and moving contact with the bowling pins. And it is at this instant that my hand-painted cachet captures the action. A close-up portrayal of the ball as it continues through the scattered pins, knocking them in all directions. Securing a "strike" for the bowler who can be seen at the far end of the alley watching with anticipation.

As I've mentioned with the previously announced covers in this Recreation Sports Series, it is the "close-up" perspectives of the various balls that will give the COLLINS Cachets an identity of their own. It will make them very collectible indeed. Also, the stamps were done in extremely bright colors, and I've tried to contrast the paints in my cachets to complement them.

Bowling continues to be a very popular sport enjoyed by Americans of all ages. Whether a gutter ball or a strike or a split or a spare, there is always a feeling of anticipation when the ball is released down the alley.
