Folk Heroes

Pecos Bill

Collins Cover Announcement

AMERICAN FOLK HEROES

PECOS BILL

Pecos Bill rides a mountain lion instead of a horse in my action packed hand-painted cachet. Instead of a lasso, he swings a rattlesnake over his head. Legend has it that Bill was the strongest, toughest cowboy there ever was. He once roped a moving train and on another occasion rode a cyclone instead of a bucking bronco.

This is the second of my Folk Hero cachets to be offered and, judging from the positive reaction to my "Mighty Casey" cover, this is another you won't want to miss. The extra touches make this COLLINS something special. The jackrabbits scurrying to get out of the cougar's path. A small cactus perched owl being startled as the rattlesnake twirling Pecos Bill gallops by. A superb sky that you have to experience first-hand. The black and white illustration cannot do justice to the hand-painted FDC.

This amazing cowboy originated in a magazine article by Edward O'Reilly. As the story passed down among real-life cowboys, Pecos Bill took on a number of new adventures and his tall tale exploits began to grow. He is now captured on the new postage stamp for all time and my COLLINS cachet will enhance his image as the daring cowboy ready to embark on incredible stunts. An American Folk Hero. Pecos Bill. Item #J2602. $11.75.
