Big Band Leaders

Glenn Miller

Destined to become a famous big band leader and accomplished trombonist, Glenn Miller was born in Clarinda, Iowa on March 1, 1904. 14e became a popular musician in the late 1930's, and his arrangements featured a "sweet" rather than "hot" approach to swing music. "In the Mood," -Pennsylvania 65000," and "Muskrat Ramble" were songs his band made famous but were only a few of his numerous hits.

He entered the service in 1942 and quickly became known as "Major Glenn Miller." His acclaimed Army Air Force band entertained our troops throughout the world during the War. On December 16, 1941, his plane disappeared between England and France, and the world lost a remarkable musical talent. My personal favorite of the Big Band Leaders from the Age of Swing - Major Glenn Miller. Item #02603. $11.75.
