AMERICAN SONGWRITERS

Johnny Mercer

A composer blessed with tremendous talent, Johnny Mercer gave us some of our most familiar tunes. Among his many hits were "You Must Have Been a Beautiful Baby", "Jeepers Creepers', and "Accent-Tchu-Ate the Positive". In later years, working with Henry Mancini, he wrote "Days of Wine and Roses' and "Moon River". It all started in 1933 when Johnny collaborated with Hoagy Carmichael on "Lazybones".

My handpainted cachet has a large portrait of Mercer along with a tribute to another of his famous hits -- "I'm an Old Cowhand". The background is very vivid as I decided that a bright color scheme would be one of the main identifying features of this COLLINS set. A gifted writer who uplifted the American spirit in his songs. Johnny Mercer. Item #P2602.
