Ernest E. Just - Marine Biologist
Collins Cover Announcement
ERNEST E. JUST - MARINE BIOLGIST
Magnificent Under-Sea Cachet
This hand-painted cachet will get a positive comment from everyone you show it to. The colors are a blend of vivid and subdued tones and I must tell you that this COLLINS demonstrates the visual beauty of individually painted covers as compared to those cachetmakers who mass produce them k killer whale swims amid schools of colorful fish. Coral formations sprout from the ocean bed and a large seashell rests in the upper left foreground. When you see this one painted and place it in your collection, I think you'll agree with me on a one word description. Stunning!
Ernest Just was primarily known for his research in marine biology. He taught at Howard University from 1907 to 1941 and during the Thirties conducted research in marine institutes and laboratories in Paris, Naples, and Berlin. From 1912 to 1937 Just published fifty papers based on his research and in 1939 had an acclaimed book - "Basic Methods for Experiments on Eggs of Marine Animals".
This cover pays tribute to the 19th honoree in the Black Heritage Stamp Series -- internationally renowned zoologist and biologist Ernest E.Just. The hand-painted Wonders of the Sea cachet is one you will love. Item #S2501. $11.75.
