One Dollar Pane With Two Stamps

I am very pleased to offer a most unusual COLLINS First Day Cover and one that will become a prime collectible within the hobby. What makes this item so exciting is that the sheet conforms almost exactly to the size of the envelope making it a very distinctive and eye-catching item. A New York City First Day of Issue cancel is used to postmark the two stamps and again to tie the pane to the cover. Each of the two fifty-cent stamps depicts a single cyclist against a brightly colored background. The design on the pane shows a three-member team riding in a close-knit formation. My handpainted cachet was a challenge to design due to limited space, but it came out a real winner. A lone racer pedals uphill on a ribbon-like coastal road. In the far distance, the blue sea shimmers under a multi-colored sky that captures the background shades of those used in the stamps.
