Collins Cover Announcement

Statue of Liberty

Celebrating the "Melting Pot" That is America, my handpainted cachet depicts a group of newly arrived immigrants as their ship passes into New York harbor. Greeting them with torch uplifted is the statue of "Lady Liberty". Prominent in my design are young people used to represent the spirit of a new beginning that America represented to many in the past and will to many others in the future.

This will be a fine addition to your Collins Collection because it embodies "Americana" at the Time one's allegiance begins for many -- at the time of arrival at our country's shores. The use of watercolor art makes this first Day Cover something special as I'm able to bring a soft and realistic look to the attire of the new citizens-to-be. Also, the individual hand painting lets me give just enough prominence to the statue itself without under or over doing it.

The new self-adhesive stamp is quite colorful, and a nice touch is that a small "1997" year date is printed in the margin. This is a first Day Cover that just makes you feel good as it expresses in human terms the symbolic importance of one of our most precious symbols of freedom and hope --the Statue of Liberty. Item #D2701. $11.75.
